Influence of the Smith-Purcell Radiation on Electron Beam in DRO

RESUMO

The action of the Smith-Purcell radiation (SPR) on the electron beam in devices of diffraction radiation oscillator (DRO) type is investigated theoretically. It is shown that the SPR field exerts “oscillatory” deceleration on the beam. At a large space charge q, the “oscillatory” deceleration of the electron beam substantially changes the radiation pattern, the electronic beam (EB) interaction power and other DRO characteristics. At a little q, the SPR action on the beam can be neglected.
