THE INFLUENCE OF RF SWITCHES UPON THE PROPERTIES OF RECONFIGURABLE ANTENNAS. PART 1: SINGLE-FREQUENCY EXCITATION
RESUMO
Modern telecommunication systems operating with different data transmission standards are often built on the basis of using the reconfigurable antennas. Insertion into the antenna structure of non-linear radio frequency elements allows providing for not only extension of functional capabilities of the antenna (switching of the operating frequency, variation of the shape of the pattern, changing of the polarization etc.) but it can also result in occurrence of a number of non-linear effects distorting the transmitted data. With regards to the foregoing the issues considered in this paper still remain important. And namely, the methodology of numerical analysis of the non-linear effects in reconfigurable antennas is described, the particularities of the non-linear RF switching elements applied in the antennas are considered, numerical investigations of the influence exerted by the volt-farad characteristic of the switch and the power of excitation upon the antenna characteristics are performed. The performed assessment investigations allow obtaining general representations and executing forecasting of non-linear distortions in the reconfigurable antennas resulting from availability of various types of RF switches therein.
