Estimate of the Theoretical Limit for the Actual Sensitivity of a Radiometer

A solution has been proposed in [1] to the problem of synthesizing the optimum structure and estimating the potential sensitivity of a modulation type radiometer. It proceeds from general theory of signal parameter estimation and assumes fluctuations of the receiver amplification factor (AF) to be a zero mean Gaussian random value with the variance σ2.
The present paper is aimed at determining the theoretical limit to the actual sensitivity of a radiometer when the AF variations can be represented as a stochastic process which occurs due to influence of a dynamic error of discriminating the fluctuations against the internal noise of the receiver.
