RESUMO
The purpose of this paper is to study experimentally the behavior of the flow field behind a shock wave discharged from a pipe and the phenomena associated with it. The shock wave is generated by a nondiaphragm-type shock tube (MO tube). The flow field is visualized by three different methods, i.e., shadow photography, Schlieren photography, and Mach-Zehnder interferometry for varying shock wave Mach numbers. It is found that the second shock forms within the vortex ring induced by the shock wave discharged from the pipe and the second vortex ring forms downstream of it.
