RESUMO

The species diversity of benthic macroinvertebrates in small mountain river Breksa (South-Western Altai), which accepts waste waters of JSC "KazZinc" was studied. Statistically significant decrease in species richness, species diversity, abundance and biomass of zoobenthos downstream the drainage water inflow as compared to the background site was noted. Among the indices of species diversity the maximal correlations indexes were established between the zinc concentration in water and the Margalef index (r = -0,65) and species richness (r = -0,71).
