FRACTAL DIMENSION INFLUENCE ON TORTUOSITY IN TWO-DIMENSIONAL FRACTAL POROUS MEDIA
RESUMO
Tortuosity is one of the key parameters used to characterize the transport properties of porous media. It is strongly related to the porosity and microstructure of pores, which are related to the fractal dimension. In this paper, a numerical simulation is applied to study the tortuosity of a Newtonian fluid flowing through two-dimensional fractal porous media. We numerically analyze the flow of the Newtonian fluid in a series of two-dimensional fractal porous media, which are constructed by the Monte Carlo method. Interestingly, the tortuosity of the flow is heavily dependent on the fractal dimension of the fractal porous media. The tortuosity increases when the fractal dimension increases.
