CONJUGATE HEAT TRANSFER BETWEEN FREE CONVECTION IN POROUS MEDIUM AND FORCED CONVECTION
RESUMO
This article presents a theoretical study on conjugate heat transfer between free convection in a fluid-saturated porous medium and forced convection in a Newtonian-fluid medium. The two media are at different temperatures, and separated by an impermeable vertical wall of finite thickness and height. The analysis shows that the solution of this two-fluid problem is controlled mainly by two dimensionless parameters: εω, which represents the thermal resistance ratio of wall to porous free convection, and R, which measures the thermal resistance ratio of forced convection to porous free convection. Asymptotic and numerical results are obtained for the local and mean Nusselt numbers as functions of the two controlling parameters εω and R.
