Performance, Fouling and Cost Considerations of Enhanced Tubes in in Power-Plant Condensers
RESUMO
The use of enhanced tubes for bundle replacement is a proven and many times cost-effective practice for power-plant condensers. The purpose of this paper is to present a concise summary of the accumulated data so that interested utilities can easily investigate the feasibility of using enhanced tubes for condenser retubing and also for new units. In addition, the paper clearly identifies to the academic community where additional research is needed. First a brief overview of the enhanced-tube, power-plant technology based on existing applications and some limited laboratory experiments is presented. The second part describes the pioneering contributions to this technology by Professor Ralph Webb. Finally, more detailed information with a comprehensive reference list to justify the conclusions stated in the overview of the paper are given.
