RESUMO

Molten material temperature control during vitrification of waste is of first importance in order to reduce environmental impact and to maintain product quality. This paper demonstrates the technical interest of a multiwavelength pyrometer (in the range 1-1.6 mm) to measure the true bath temperature (in the range 1300 - 1600 °C) and to detect the influence of main process parameters on the behaviour of two plasma furnaces: twin graphite electrode and non-transferred arc torch. Results for both pilot size systems are presented during vitrification of municipal waste incinerator fly ashes.
