RESUMO

General properties of an electric arc in subatmospheric pressure gas are discussed. Basic relationships between quantities describing thermal arc plasma are stated. The influence of subatmospheric pressure on selected arc characteristics is presented. Approximations of static and dynamic arc characteristics are given as functions of gas pressure and arc length. Mathematical models of an arc in subatmospheric pressure gas are given. Macromodels are created, and simulations of processes in arc circuits are performed by means of the MATLAB-Simulink software.
