RESUMO

In this paper the problem of fully developed mixed convection flow in a two-dimensional square porous enclosure with suction/injection effects at bottom/top or top/bottom is considered. The free convection is induced by the sinusoidally varying temperature on the left vertical wall. The coupled nonlinear partial differential equations governing the Darcy mixed convection process are solved numerically by the finite element method. The numerical computations are carried out for a wide range of governing parameters such as Rayleigh number (Ra), suction/injection velocity (α), suction/injection window width (D/H), and amplitude (A) of the sinusoidally varying temperature profile. Flow field and temperature distribution are analyzed through streamlines, isotherms, and local/cumulative heat flux plots. While the bottom injection and top suction (BITS) model favors heat transfer with increasing D/H and A the opposite happens with the top injection and bottom suction (TIBS) model. However, both models favor heat transfer with increasing Ra and α.
