IMPROVEMENT OF ECOLOGICAL MONITORING OF WATER QUALITY (CONTENT OF HEAVY METALS) IN SYSTEM OF TECHNICAL WATER SUPPLY OF ZAPORIZHZHYA NUCLEAR POWER PLANT (UKRAINE)
RESUMO
The current hydrochemical state of surface water and bottom sediments adjacent to the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) water area is presented. Also, an existing structure of the computer system of ecological monitoring of water quality in terms of heavy metals content in the cooling pond of ZNPP is described. A mathematical tool was developed for the prediction and assessment of water quality at different regimes of operation of cooling pond, cooling towers, and spray ponds of NPP. It consists of a system of differential and algebraic equations based on a nodalization scheme. Also, a three-dimensional numerical model of hydrothermodynamics was applied to describe the transport of copper in the cooling pond. It requires a digital map of the bottom topography of the ZNPP cooling pond that was created based on the detailed mapping of the reservoir depths. Comparative analysis shows good agreement between experimental data and water quality forecast results in terms of content of copper. As a result of this work, recommendations for improvement of water quality management in the system of technical water supply of Zaporizhzhya NPP were suggested.
