Cardiohemodynamic Changes in Focal Cerebral Ischemia

RESUMO

On the model of focal cerebral ischemia induced by isolated occlusion of the middle cerebral artery, changes in the rat cardiohemodynamics during a heart cycle were studied with the help of an ultraminiature catheter 2F ("Millar Instruments", USA). In in vivo experiments, it has been found that the development of focal cerebral ischemia results in a significant decrease in the pumping junction of the heart, as evidenced by reduced stroke volume and cardiac output by more than 50%. At that, diastolic disfunction of the left ventricle develops, as evidenced by a three-fold increase in the end-diastolic pressure, a decrease in dP/dtmin and an increase in the end-diastolic myocardial stiffness 3.8 times. Thus, focal cerebral ischemia is accompanied by diastolic dysfunction and violation of the pumping and contractile functions of the heart.
