RESUMO
New viewpoints on taxonomy and phytogeny of Permian and Triassic Charophyta are presented. More precise characteristics of families, subfamilies and genera are given. Justification and evidence in support of segregation of the family Stellatocharaceae are presented for the first time. As a result of our taxonomic revision of all previously described species of the now rejected genus Paracuneatochara Wang Z. et Wang R., its taxa are placed into four other genera. The global geographic and stratigraphic distribution of Permian and Triassic Charophyta is discussed in detail. A new genus Acutochara Said. gen. nov. is described (type species: A. chinensis Said. sp. nov.).
