Algal flora in first Iranian land-marine the Boujagh National Park
RESUMO
The Boujagh National Park is the first Iranian land-marine national park protected by the Department of Environmnet. Part of the area is also declared by the Ramsar convention. It is comprised of two lagoons, namely, Boujagh and Kiashahr. Phytoplankton and epiphytic algae are the most important primary producers in freshwater ecosystems. Samples were collected from May 2005 to May 2006. In the present study, 225 species from 14 classes of algae were identified; most of them were epiphytes. All of the genera of Euglenophyceae and Dinophyceae and most genera of diatoms were founding the planktonic community. Bacillariophyceae and Chrysophyceae were the most abundant and the rarest classes respectively.
