An international survey uncovered barriers to women in technology education and strategies to overcome those barriers. Major obstacles in becoming a technology teacher included: little exposure to or awareness of technology education, stereotypes, and attitudes of males and guidance counselors. Suggestions were made to change the curriculum and facility, to alter sexist attitudes, to increase promotion and recruitment and to provide additional support and recognition.
