The performed analysis is based on previously obtained analytical solutions to the inverse heat conduction problem for a plane thin-filmed sensor model, which are typically used in heat-transfer computations. The required conditions to find the surface temperature, heat-flux density, heat-exchange coefficient, and effective temperature of the external environment at the place of the sensor installation are formulated. The experimental estimation of an effective (ambient) temperature requires the simultaneous determination of the local surface temperature and heat-flux density in the vicinity of the measured point. On the basis of numerical computations it was shown that at fixed parameters of external flow and for any specific characteristics of a model sensor, the steady-state values of the surface temperature and heat flux density are proportional to the temperature of the ambient environment, and the value of the local dimensionless heat-exchange coefficient tends asymptotically to unity over time. The dimension scaling factor is determined from the solution to the inverse unsteady problem of the heat exchange of the sensor with the external environment. After ending the transient process using the developed methodology, the numerical solutions correspond with high precision to suitable initial direct problems.
