T1 INCREASING THE DIRECTIVITY OF A CIRCULAR ANTENNA ARRAY JF Telecommunications and Radio Engineering JO TRE YR 2015 FD 2015-12-11 VO 74 IS 13 SP 1129 OP 1146 K1 annular antenna array K1 complex source AB The circular antenna arrays involving one or more annular sets of identical radiating elements have recently become a subject of special interest. The reason is connected with the possibility of effectively employing such arrays in the construction of powerful transmitter facilities. This paper presents results of analysis of annular antenna arrays of linear polarization, consisting of either one or a few rings of identical radiators. The radiators are represented by elementary or the complex Huygens elements. Variations in the radiation pattern have been studied in dependence on the array's radius, number of the radiating elements involved, and directional properties of each radiating element. The possibility is shown of improving the array's directivity through increasing the number of its constituent rings. By way of example, simulation results are given for a receiving-transmitting antenna system involving a four-ring array characterized by a high gain factor and low side lobe level.
