Comparing the energy situation of today and only ten years ago, it can be seen that the definition of fuels has become much wider, nowadays.
In the first place this conclusion is related to solid fuels.
In addition to different kinds of coals, wood, peat, oil shale, biomass and various types of liquid and solid wastes can be burned. There are two reasons:

a. the energy and ecology crisis, and
b. fluidized bed combustion with its "multi fuel" characteristics.
