REDUCED MODELS FOR CALCULATION OF RADIATION-TUBE BURNERS - THE DEFLECTING ZONE

RESUMO
This Paper presents the development of a reduced model to describe and optimize the deflecting zone of a gas-fired radiation tube burner. 3D-CFD methods are used to analyse the initial situation and to improve the fluid flow by parameter studies. A validation is made by comparison of 4 standard RANS-models ( ke, lke, AKN, V2F) with experimental data of impinging jet flow within constrained geometry. The resulting improved geometry of the deflecting zone reduces pressure loss by increasing heat flux at the same time, which is confirmed by experiments of a prototype.
