Resumo

A thin carbon-film, which is heated electrically, has merits as a test surface for measurements of time-space distribution of convective heat transfer to air using infrared thermography. The carbon-film has higher infrared emissivity and the lower thermal conductivity compared to those of metallic-foils, leading to improvement of both the temperature and space resolutions. Also, its higher infrared emissivity reduces the diffuse reflection from surroundings. In order to verify the applicability to practical measurements, the unsteady heat transfer on the wall of a turbulent boundary layer was measured by employing a thin carbon-film of 5 μm thick. The salient features for the streaks formed in the near-wall region were clearly observed, demonstrating the usefulness of the carbon-film.
