A new wall function for the turbulent kinetic energy k
RESUMO
One important issue in turbulence modeling is to resolve the near wall region where flow presents steep gradients, and this represents much computational effort for engineering applications. The inner region is very thin (especially for recirculating flow or in natural convection) and poses thus numerical difficulties in addition to experimental ones. A new wall function for the turbulent kinetic energy k is proposed. Comparisons with direct numerical simulation data of turbulent channel flows show good agreement. The proposed new wall function for k is coupled with length scales established for Two-layer approach TLM. The model is applied to calculate flow in different configurations.
