Local heat transfer and vortex structures in a single channel of a round plate-and-shell heat exchanger
RESUMO
Experiments and numerical simulations using RANS and LES method for turbulent flow through cross-corrugated plates in a new generation of compact plate heat exchangers have been performed to investigate flow structures and local heat transfer rates under turbulent conditions. Three dimenionsional numerical simulations were conducted using RANS method with direct coupling of the hot and cold fluid side (CHT) to study the dependencies of local and integral parameters as friction factor f and Nusselt number Nu for evaluation of the thermo-hydraulic performance. Parallel experiments confirm the numerical obtained results for pressure loss and heat transfer. The detailed flow distribution and enhancement of vortex structures within recirculation zones of the corrugation profiles are determined using time resolved LES method along with different vortex identification algorithms.
