Resumo

An experimental investigation has been made on the flow and concentration fields over a two-dimensional hill. By varying the elevation of a point source located upstream of the hill model, the effects of the presence of the hill on the turbulent transport of a passive scalar, ethylene, are discussed. At the upstream and hill crest locations, the maximum concentration point locates away from the wall for elevated case, and the value decreases compared with that for the ground level case. In the separated region, the mean concentration profiles are almost uniform in the vertical direction up to the crest of the hill. The hill causes the concentration distribution to strongly expand in the spanwise direction.
