FREE CONVECTION FROM A HORIZONTAL ARRAY OF CYLINDERS BENEATH AN INCLINED ADIABATIC CEILING
RESUMO
In this article steady two-dimensional laminar natural convection from three horizontal, isothermal cylinders located under an inclined adiabatic ceiling has been studied numerically. Analysis has been carried for Rayleigh number ranging from 1500 to 50000 by using a discretized numerical code. Specific numerical results are compared with experimental measurements using a Mach-Zehnder interferometer. Results are obtained for several ceiling inclination of 0°≤θ≤25°, and cylinders spacing of S/D=0.5. Solutions indicate that by increasing the ceiling inclination from 0 to 25°, the value of average Nusselt number of the centered cylinder increases up to 23 percent. Also, reducing cylinders spacing affects the Nusselt number, and it decreases even if the ceiling is far from the cylinders.
