RESUMO

The simultaneous measurement of temperature and velocity in turbulent flows is of broad interest in many laboratory experiments and industrial applications, especially for the characterization of the turbulent heat transfer. However, such measurements are difficult to achieve, particularly if a good spatial resolution and frequency response range are required. We present new results obtained with the PCTA (Parameterizable Constant Temperature Anemometer) method proposed by Ndoye, Delville, Heitz and Arroyo [11]. We firstly improved the PCTA method to enable the simultaneous measurement of the temperature and two components of the velocity, with an x-wire probe. Then we used that new PCTA method to analyse turbulence quantities and their correlations with heat in a thermal mixing layer.
