Prediction of turbulent heat transfer around pin-fins

Resumo

Predictions of convective heat transfer around a single pin-fin and a row of the pin-fins have been performed with Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) analysis in this work. The turbulence closure models tested for the prediction are the standard k−ε, k−ω, and shear stress transport (SST) k−ω models. Validation of numerical results has been performed for area-averaged Nusselt number for a single pin-fin and a row of the pin-fins in comparison with experimental data. Heat transfer performance of fan-shaped pin-fins has been compared with that of the circular pin-fins.
