DNS OF PASSIVE SCALAR TRANSPORT IN TURBULENT SUPERSONIC CHANNEL FLOW

Resumo

Direct numerical simulations of compressible turbulent channel flow with passive scalar transport are performed at three Reynolds numbers Reτ ranging from 221 to 545 and Mach numbers ranging from 1.5 to 3.0. The Prandtl and Schmidt numbers are 0.7 and 1.0, respectively. A mean scalar gradient is imposed across the mean flow. Budgets of the scalar variance and the scalar flux components are presented for these flow parameters and Mach number effects are discussed. Outer scalings are found suitable to collapse incompressible and compressible data.
