ABSTRACT

The present study reports the numerical simulation of interaction of turbulent wall jet and offset jet using low-Reynolds number turbulence model of Yang and Shih [1]. The near wall region flow is captured with the help of very fine grids using low-Reynolds number modelling approach. The Reynolds number of the flow at the inlet is 20000 and the offset ratio is 9.5. The combined flow of a wall jet and an offset jet is called dual jet. The finite volume method is used to solve the Reynolds averaged differential governing equations on a staggered grid arrangement. The SIMPLEC [2] algorithm is employed for coupling of mean velocity and pressure. The present study intends to report the near-wall velocity profile including the viscous sublayer region, velocity vector plots, velocity profile in u+-y+ coordinates, velocity similarity profile, distribution of Reynolds shear stress and turbulent kinetic energy in the domain, etc. in detail.
