Calculation of Heat Transfer in Power Units with a Complex System of Boundary Surfaces
ABSTRACT
The paper deals with a method of calculation of heat exchangers represented by a class of elongated cylindrical structures with longitudinal, circular and asymmetrically situated cooling channels. Under sufficiently general conditions, this method allows reduction of a three-dimensional steady heat transfer problem to solution of a number of coupled plane problems. Calculation of a system of plane heat conduction equations in conjunction with the equations of coolant motion makes it possible to select appropriate resistances in order to considerably equalize the temperature field over the heater cross-section, or, which is equivalent, to decrease to some extent the total coolant flow rate.
