ABSTRACT
This paper deals with a computer code for one-dimensional time dependent flow of an inhomogeneous plasma in a MHD generator channel, developed by IVTAN. The validity of the code has been checked by confronting the computed results with the measured data of the Eindhoven Blow Down Facility. The pressure distributions show very good agreement. The calculated overall enthalpy extraction is about 10 % higher than the measured one. The 1D-t computer code is considered to be suitable for first order approach of the performance of MHD generators with inhomogeneous plasmas.
