Abstract

Velocity fields in a large-scale cyclonic vortex, appeared over the localized heat source in a rotating layer of fluid, are investigated. The detailed structure of the velocity fields is studied by the PIV system. The velocity fields are measured in the horizontal and vertical cross-sections of the fluid layer for the large range of Reynolds and Grasshof numbers.
