ABSTRACT
The object of our investigation is the temperature distribution in natural thermal convection using a Rayleigh-Benard experiment. In order to predict the dependence of the thickness and the structure of the thermal boundary layer on the control parameters (constant aspect ratio Γx = 5, Γy = 1 and different Rayleigh numbers) temperature time series and profiles have been measured in the boundary layer under the cooling plate. We present the mean temperature as a function of the distance from the cooling plate with extensive statistical analysis: profiles of the rms temperature fluctuation, skewness and kurtosis.
