RADIATIVE TRANSFER IN ISOTROPICALLY SCATTERING TWO-LAYERED THREE DIMENSIONAL RECTANGULAR ENCLOURES
ABSTRACT
Three-dimensional radiative integral transfer equations (RITEs) for a rectangular (cubic) absorbing, emitting and isotropically scattering vertically arranged two-layered medium are derived and solved. The subtraction of singularity is used as the exact method of solution for RITEs. The surface and the volume integrals that arise are analytically evaluated not only to tackle the singularities of the transfer kernels but also to reduce computational time. The medium is composed of two-layers in vertical direction in which the medium properties are discontinuous at the interface. In the numerical simulations, the layer thicknesses and the medium properties are changed and the net partial radiative heat fluxes are examined along the symmetry line at the top wall. Tabulated solutions for the incident energy and the partial heat fluxes are also provided for selected cases.
