ABSTRACT

This paper presents the results of the stochastic Lagrangian modeling of the passive tracer in the convective planetary boundary layer (PBL) based on the random walk process and Langevin models of the turbulent dispersion with a set of probability density functions (PDF) of the vertical velocity fluctuations where each PDF is reconstructed by the distributions of the vertical velocity moments calculated in the PBL. Five PDF models and their average concentration field have been studied. The models have been tested against result from water-tank experiments (Willis and Deardorff) and from the observational data in PBL.
