ABSTRACT
To elucidate the fluctuation mechanism of the dryout position in evaporating tubes, a photographic study of the dryout phenomena in two-phase shear flow is conducted using Freon-113. Dryout patterns observed are classified into three types; dry-patch type, disturbance wave type, and rivulet type. The threshold conditions for these three types are determined for several heat fluxes. The influences of the disturbance wave are analysed by the cine-film method.
