ABSTRACT

This paper reports on numerical simulations of the flow of a hot jet in a cross flow with jet to cross-flow velocity ratio of 3.3 and 3 different jet temperatures. The simulations were performed first with the incompressible scheme using the Boussinesq approximation for Buoyancy treatment, and then with the weakly compressible scheme. A comparison between results of both schemes shows that there is an important difference in the jet trajectories in the short field. These differences can be explained by the influence of thermal expansion and small compressibility close to the exit of the jet.
