Abstract

LES of the Darmstadt TSF-Burner of cases Ai2, Ar and Cr is performed. These flames are found within the thin-reaction zone regime and feature shear and stratification. Results of the flow and temperature field are carefully analyzed and compared to experimental results. It is shown that the LES predicts this burner well. However, an important finding is that heat losses, which have not been accounted for in the present study, are important.
