Feasibility Study of Hybrid LES/RANS Model for the Flow Over an Aerodynamic Body

Abstract

This study involves the numerical simulations of the flow simulation behind an aerodynamic body. As a validation case we have chosen an Ahmed body in wind tunnel using two simulation methods with LES, DES, k-ε and k-ω turbulence models. The simulation results are compared with the experimental results. The comparisons show great agreement with each other especially at the upstream flow field of the Ahmed body. The validated LES and k-ω simulation model were used to verify with our experiment of a scaled Ahmed body in the wind tunnel.
