ABSTRACT
The purpose of this paper is to study the spatial structure of global instabilities, solutions of the partial derivative eigenvalue problem resulting from a nonparallel linear instability analysis of the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations. A family of Falkner-Skan profiles is analyzed for the onset of absolute instability as the magnitude of the reversed flow and this family of profiles was used to construct generic models of separation bubbles and study the possible onset of global instability. This study will tackle the existence of global instabilites in a boundary layer flow with a recirculating bubble.
