Investigation of partially filled rectangular waveguides with account of dielectric losses

The spectrum of Hmo eigenmodes of regular, partially filled rectangular waveguides is investigated with account of losses in the dielectric plate. The plate is arbitrarily located in the E-plane of the waveguide, covering the cross-section height completely. The dielectric losses are accounted through a vigorous solution of the appropriate spectral boundary-value problem. The effect of the plate location and thickness, as well as of the degree of the waveguide filling, upon dispersion properties of the fundamental and higher-order modes has been studied. The rigorous results are compared with the known approximate solutions for the wave attenuation rate in rectangular waveguides with lossy partial filling.
