The approximate solutions to a dispersion equation and an equation for the ratio between the longitudinal components of electrical and magnetic fields of asymmetric hybrid lower-order waves provide the basis for calculating aperture distributions and radiation patterns. Also analytical expressions for the frequencies that correspond to minimal cross-polarization radiation are derived. It is shown that radiation from the open-ended transmission line with impedance boundaries that sustain a lower asymmetric hybrid HE11 wave possesses an axial symmetry and a cross-polarization level which allows to use the above line as an antenna feed of single-reflector and lens antennas.
