Optimization of a Total Power Radiometer Based on the Systems Analysis Approach

Paper [1] was dedicated to synthesizing an optimum (with respect to the maximum a posteriori probability criterion ) configuration of a total power radiometer, with account of the varying amplification factor (AF) of the receiver linear circuit. The solution suggested in the paper is based on the signal parameter estimation treated as a problem of system synthesis in a partially specified structure.
In this paper, we consider a similar problem in the vector synthesis technique, i.e. synthesis in terms of the several quality indexes. Within the framework of the systems approach, initial data for synthesizing an optimum structure of a radiometer can be represented in the following form [2]

D = (U, Os, c.K, k.K).

Here U is a set of operational conditions of the radiometer (signal and noise parameters; kind of the signal and noise interaction; etc.); Os is a set of requirements imposed on the receiver parameters and configuration; c.K denotes the set of components of the radiometer quality vector K = (k1,...,km ) and k.K is the composition of the quality criterion, whose extremum corresponds to the optimum value of the K vector.
