LOSSY AND VISUALLY LOSSLESS COMPRESSION OF SINGLE-LOOK SAR IMAGES

Краткое описание

Various strategies of compression of single-look SAR images corrupted by spatially correlated speckle noise are considered in this paper. Several quantitative criteria including visual quality metrics are taken into account to provide thorough investigation of compression characteristics. Typical practical restrictions are taken into account depending on a considered strategy and corresponding priority of requirements. It is demonstrated that for visually lossless compression it is possible to ensure compression ratio (CR) about 3...8 whilst for lossy compression CR values can reach tens under condition of data compression in the neighborhood of optimal operation point (OOP).
