To improve the data security and efficiency of the multi-input multi-output (MIMO)-based differential chaotic shift keying (DCSK) system under the wireless multipath fading channel, a new non-coherent modulation solution, i.e., the M-ary security differential chaotic shift keying (MS-DCSK), is proposed in this study. The scrambling matrix and shift matrix are used to construct a scrambling matrix group in this system, enabling the scrambling matrix to enhance the security of chaotic signals while carrying the M-ary bit information. By doing so, the security, energy efficiency, and spectral efficiency of the system are improved. In addition, by taking advantage of the quasi-orthogonal characteristics of chaotic sequences, the system receiver can effectively utilize the multipath diversity and space diversity of the multi-antenna transmitter and receiver system, without requiring the channel state information (CSI).
