Краткое описание

The analysis of possibility of determining the altitude gradient of the troposphere refraction factor upon the altitude and range gradients of the attenuation factor of the USW signal in the domain of shadow or half‐shadow of the satellite radio‐wave radiation path of the Earth atmosphere is contained in this paper. Numerical calculation of spatial gradients of the attenuation factor of the diffraction field is performed for the case of linear variation of the refraction factor with the altitude. Exact ratios, taking into account the electromagnetic wave diffraction and asymptotic ones in the equivalent radius approximation considered. It is determined that sensitivity of the range gradient of the radio signal attenuation factor to variation of the altitude gradient refraction factor is substantially (by more than two orders) exceeding the sensitivity of the range gradient of the attenuation factor. The performed analysis confirms the opportunity of using spatial gradients of the attenuation factor of a radio signal for radio occultation monitoring of the Earth atmosphere.
