Isochronous Vibrations of a Heavy Cylinder in a Cylindrical Recess

Краткое описание

The free vibrations of a heavy homogeneous cylinder, rolling in a cylindrical recess, which guide curve is a brachistochrone, are considered. The equation of motion of the cylinder is formulated and formula for the angular frequency of free vibrations of the center of mass of the cylinder is determined. An analogy between the cycloid pendulum with the rolling cylinder and the classical cycloid pendulum in the form of a material point is found.
