Chorological Structure of Invertebrates Populations in the Thickets of Higher Aquatic Plants in Lake Baikal

The distribution of invertebrates in the phytocenoses of Elodea Canadensis Michx. and Myriophyllum spicatum L. was investigated in the bays of the Maloye More of Lake Baikal. It has been found that in various phytocenoses the numbers and biomass of macroinvertebrates of zoophytos and endobenthos differed. In the phytocenosis with a predominance of E. Canadensis belonging to adventives, the quantitative indices of macroinvertebrates development were higher than those registered in the phytocenosis with a predominance of M. spicatum. In the thickets of M. spicatum, rhizobenthos occupied the intermediate place between zoophytos and endobenthos.
