Краткое описание

The problem of natural convection heat and mass transfer from a vertical plate embedded in a power-law fluid-saturated Darcy porous medium with chemical reaction and radiation effects is studied. The governing partial differential equations are transformed into ordinary differential equations using similarity transformations and then solved numerically using the shooting method. The numerical results are compared and found to be in good agreement with previously published results as special cases of the present investigation. The non-dimensional velocity, temperature, and concentration are presented graphically for various values of the radiation parameter, chemical reaction parameter, and power-law index. In addition, the numerical values of the heat and mass transfer rates for different values of the governing parameters are tabulated. The temperature increases with the radiation parameter; however, the concentration decreases. Moreover, an increase in the power-law index of fluids tends to increase the velocity but decrease the temperature and concentration. It is apparent that the chemical reaction parameter has a more pronounced effect on the Sherwood number than it does on the Nusselt number. Increasing the chemical reaction parameter decreases (increases) the heat (mass) transfer rate. A similar trend is observed for the radiation parameter.
