Краткое описание

Theoretical formulation of spontaneous transport and macroscopic conservation equations by control volume analysis is presented for single- and multiphase fluid systems flowing through porous media. Results obtained by control volume balance are compared with those of representative elementary volume averaging. Common issues involved in conventional porous media averaging are delineated. The effect of various factors on the relationship between bulk volume and pore-fluid volume averages is determined. Dispersion by spontaneous transfer is confirmed to exist both in microscopic and macroscopic transport equations unless the dispersion affect is negligible, or the fluid and porous media conditions are uniform. Critical insights and guidance are provided as to the proper implementation of the porous media volume averaging rules for modeling transport processes in porous media.
